It's me!

I am an MA student studying in TEFL in Al-Zahra University, Tehran, Iran. I want to work on 'writing assessment' for my thesis. My mother is an English teacher. In fact it was she who made me interested in learning English from my childhood. I started teaching English informally, at home, to guidance and sometimes to high school students when I was 15. I took my BA in English Literature but I found myself much more interseted in teaching, since it's in teaching to others that I feel I can be entangled with the complex psyche of the people especially the kids. It's about one month that I have started teaching to adults in a language institute.

  1. Hi, Fereshteh, from Argentina!

What an interesting topic you've chosen for your thesis! You mention you took a BA in English Literature first: is that the usual way in Iran, I mean, first getting a degree and then studying teaching as a post-graduate qualification? Here TEFL is a four-year degree course, obviously you need to know quite a good deal of English to start.

Be careful, because your blog is marked as "Adult Content", which may discourage some people to visit it.

    Warm regards.

  2. Dear Fereshteh, Congratulations. Glad to see your new weblog. Although yours is still in embryonic stages like mine, It is very appealing. I like your web log. Further, I am proud to see another countryman on evosessions. BTW, 'writing assessment' seems very interesting, Are you going to consult with Dr.Marandi? Is it related to CMC or CALL? ..Good Luck and Cheers.

  3. Hi Fereshteh,
I am also a member of Collaborative Writing group and have created my first blog today. It's nice to see that many of us share the same or similar thoughts about teaching and using the new ways/tools to engage our students and to give our teaching a new dimension. I don't have much time these days but have tried to complete all set activities. I have quite enjoyed this experience so far.
I like the way how you introduced yourself and wish you all the very best in the future.
    Warm regards from Auckland,
    Nadia

  4. Hi Fereshteh:

Your name has a lovely translation. One thing you might want to note is that you should reset one of the "settings"--right now, I get the message that this blog "may contain adult content", and I'm asked if I want to continue. You need to go into "settings" and check that it "does not contain adult content";-)

    Happy Blogging,

    Veronica

  5. Hi Fereshteh,
It´s Berta again. I am glad you decided to create your first blog and also to know a little more about you.
You had a great example in your mom who was already an English teacher when you decided to become one. I am sure your young students and also your adult ones are learning a lot from you. You seem very motivated to keep learning about EFL teaching and your topic for your MA thesis is especially related to the topic of this session.
Hoping to come back again to your blog soon to see how you have developed it.
    Best regards, Berta
